I was once taught of 3 things as learning to grow in the corporate world.
These 3 things are actually "ARE".
What do they stand for?
A: Appreciate
R: Respect
E: Encourage
Appreciate
We will need to learn how to appreciate others, for:
- the companionship
- the sincere friendship
- the partnership
- the talents they possess
- the knowledge sharing
- the feedback they give
- the time spent
- the efforts they put in for some work
- the thoughts they had
- the sharing
Appreciation of a person, a situation, a scenario, etc.... brings us a long way.
So, let's give thanks!
Respect
We respect everyone equally.
We do not merely respect a person because of:
- the financial status
- the social status
- the knowledge they possess
- the partnership we have
- the relationship we have
But we respect a person, merely because we respect them as a person & a human being.
Key point is: If we expect respect from someone, please respect someone first. If we take the first step, we are in a much pleasant position.
If we do not respect a person, the universe will somehow send the signal to that person ultimately. And we will not be respected in one way or another as well.
Encourage
Along the way, we will meet people that needs our encouragement. Either to get the person out of an awkward situation, or to lift the person to another level, or to get the person to grow, etc.....
With the right encouragement, a person can go very far.
Negatively, if we discourage a person, he/she will be usually pushed back. And this is not a good act.
Think of it this way, Many years back, we were in that position where we need encouragement from others too.
